Alison Currie

Alison received a triennial project grant from Arts SA for the development and presentation of 42a, which premiered at the Experimental Art Foundation 2008 and toured in 2010. in 2009 Alison co-directed The Main Event with Solon Ulbrich at Adelaide College of the Arts, choreographed the award winning Bedroom Dancing for the Restless Youth Ensemble and toured regional South Australia with Gavin Clarke’s A Country Dance. With the youth ensemble Alison performed in Sustenance and Vocabulary, a collaboration between Restless and the Australian Dance Theatre and has been a member of the education team that worked on the Restless in the Riverland project. Beauty is Alison’s first engagement with the Touring Company.

Anastasia Retallack

Anastasia is a woman who has Down Syndrome and was a member of Restless Dance Theatre for eight years before graduating in 2009. During her time as a member of the Youth Ensemble Anastasia performed in numerous productions including HeadlongIn The Blood, Singing with Angels, Vocabulary, the co-production between Restless Dance Theatre and Australian Dance Theatre, Safe From Harm and Bedroom Dancing.

Anastasia was a co-tutor for the company between 2002-2006 and in that final year toured with Restless to Melbourne as part of a creative development with Weave Movement Theatre.

Dancing since the age of four Anastasia, whose original involvement with the company began through Restless Central, continually attends workshops and regular dance classes and has gained confidence and self esteem from performing and working with people of all ages.

Now part of the Restless Dance Theatre’s touring company as a professional artist she will perform in the company’s forthcoming work, Beauty.

Dana Nance

Dana is a dancer and artist. She joined the company as a workshop participant in Restless Central in 2004 and was then asked to join as a member of the youth ensemble. She has appeared in numerous productions including SustenanceVocabularyContinual Unfolding of Now, Rebel Rebel and the award winning The Heart of Another is a Dark Forest with Rawcus at the Melbourne Fringe Festival.

Dana was one of the key performers in Necessity one of the three short films that were part of Necessary Games, the multi award winning piece shown at film festivals around the world. She was also a performer in the award winning work Bedroom Dancing, part of the Come Out Festival 2009.

Debut and Debut 2 were Dana’s chance to create and direct work to be performed by member of the ensemble. For Debut in 2008 Dana worked with Alison Currie and for Debut 2 in 2009 she worked with Sasha Zahra on a piece entitled Colours.

As a visual artist Dana has won many prizes for her work and has exhibited in various galleries including Artistic Licence Gallery, Pepper Street Arts Centre and Julia Farr Exhibition. Dana’s intimate illustrations are meticulously created and have been used as part of Restless Dance Theatre’s marketing material.

Dana will make her professional debut with the Touring Company in the world’s premier of Beauty as part of the 2010 inSPACE programme at the Adelaide Festival Centre.

Jianna Georgiou

Jianna joined the Restless Youth Ensemble in 2006 and has since performed in Rebel Rebel, The Heart of Another is a Dark ForestDebut, the award winning films Necessary Games and Bedroom Dancing.

In 2009 Jianna was one of the emerging directors for Restless’ Debut 2 project, collaborating with Katrina Lazaroff and dancers from the Restless Youth Ensemble and the Adelaide College of the Arts to direct her first work, Dancing Dragons. She has won numerous medals and trophies when competing at the Special Olympics in both gymnastics and swimming. Jianna has toured to the Melbourne Fringe, loves being in front of the camera and performing for live theatre. Jianna hopes to have a long career in the arts.

Kyra Kimpton

Kyra is a performer, creator and disabled artist. She has been a member of the Restless Dance Theatre Youth Ensemble for the past four years and has served for two years as a Dancers Representative on the Board of Management. She also works regularly with the education team.

Over the past four years Kyra has been involved in a number of independent projects including dance, film, instillation and theatre. She co-directed Blink – a short dance film nominated for both the SASA and SALA 2009 awards and choreographed and performed in The Forest – winner Best Performing Arts/Music award SASA 2007. Her current projects include Prelude, a collaboration in London with UK-based choreographer Jemima Hoadley. Kyra presented the first stage of Prelude at the Arts Activated National Conference 2010 at the Sydney Powerhouse.
