Second NatureDana NanceDana is a dancer and visual artist. She joined the company as a workshop participant in Restless Central in 2004 and was then asked to join as a member of the Youth Ensemble. She has appeared on television and in numerous productions including Sustenance, Vocabulary, Continual Unfolding of Now, Rebel Rebel and the award winning The Heart of Another is a Dark Forest with Rawcus at the Melbourne Fringe Festival (2008). Dana was one of the key performers in Necessity one of the three short films that were part of Necessary Games, the multi-award winning piece shown at film festivals around the world. She was also a performer in the award-winning production Bedroom Dancing, which was part of the ComeOut Festival program 2009. Debut and Debut 2 were Dana’s chance to create and direct work to be performed by members of the Ensemble. For Debut (2008) Dana worked with Alison Currie and for Debut 2 (2009) she collaborated with mentor Sasha Zahra, Tutti Inc visual artists and first year dancers from Adelaide College of the Arts on a piece entitled Colours. As a visual artist Dana has won many prizes for her work and has exhibited in various galleries including Artistic Licence Gallery, Pepper Street Arts Centre, Outsider Art and Julia Farr Exhibition. Dana’s intimate illustrations are meticulously created and have been used as part of Restless Dance Theatre’s marketing material. Dana made her professional debut with the Touring Company in the world premier of Beauty as part of the 2010 inSPACE program at the Adelaide Festival Centre. She also performed with the Youth Ensemble and guests in Next of Kin, playing the panpipe with the band led by Hilary Kleinig (Zephyr Quartet). In 2011 she performed in Take Me There for the Come Out Festival and worked with Sydney-based Guest Director/Choreographer Dean Walsh for the first stage development of the next Touring Company production In-habit – nature versus nurture (working title) during a 3-week Artist in Residency at Bundanon Trust. She also performed in Andrew Pandos’ Operation Bear Trap…Rumbling! with his mentor Philip Channells and guest dancers from AC Arts in Debut 3 – the dancers direct. In 2012 Dana returns to the Touring Company for the 2nd stage development of Second Nature and joins the cast of Howling Like a Wolf with guest director Zoë Barry. Andrew PandosAndrew started working with Restless Dance Theatre in 2004 as a workshop participant in Restless Central. He was invited to join the Youth Ensemble in 2005 and performed in Sustenance at the State Opera Studio and Vocabulary, a collaboration with ADT in the Space Theatre, Adelaide Festival Centre. Andrew has also performed in Rebel Rebel, The Heart of Another is a Dark Forest at the 2008 Melbourne Fringe, and the 2010 Outstanding Achievement in Youth and Community Dance award winning work Bedroom Dancing. He was one of the key performers in Sixteen, one of the three films that make up Necessary Games, the award winning dance film collaboration with Closer Productions which screened at a number of national and international film festivals. Andrew worked as a workshop co-tutor during the Sustenance season and had his first tour with Restless to Horsham for the Australian Youth Dance Festival 2006. At the end of 2009 Andrew directed his first piece, Power Rangers as part of Debut 2 under the mentorship of Aidan Kane Munn. In 2010 Andrew performed in Next of Kin and joined the Education Team on The Bridging Project in Murray Bridge and Brothers, Sisters in Christies Beach. Now having turned 27 years old, he recently starred in Take Me There as an emerging professional artist. In 2011 Andrew worked with Dean Walsh in the first stage development of Second Nature while the Company were Artists in Residence at Bundanon. He directed Operation Bear Trap…Rumbling! with mentor Philip Channells for the Debut 3 season working with dancers from the Youth Ensemble and Adelaide College of the Arts. Andrew returns to Restless in 2012 as member of the Education Team for Restless Central and the second stage development of Second Nature. Elizabeth RyanElizabeth is a founding member of The Fondue Set. With them she has created six full-length works, the latest being the Green Room Award-winning No Success Like Failure, created in collaboration with UK director Wendy Houstoun, and premiering at The Studio, Sydney Opera House in June 2008. Elizabeth has also performed with Version 1.0 in From a Distance, with Dean Walsh in Back from Front, and with Force Majeure in their new work Not in a Million Years. She joins the Restless Touring Company for the development of Second Nature in 2011 and 2012. Matthew ShilcockMatthew has a disability called osteogenesis imperfecta, which is a medical condition that weakens the bones. He has been interested in the performing arts most of his life and during his school years was involved with several drama groups and improvisation clubs. In the last two years his interest in performing has been spiked and he is working towards penetrating the film and acting community, which is as vastly spread as vegemite on a beach ball. Matthew is a graduate of the Growing the Garden program at No Strings Attached Theatre of Disability. His initial steps with Restless were taken during a weekend residency led by Rawcus’ Artistic Director Kate Sulan. Next of Kin was his debut performance with the company in 2010 and he returns in 2011 for Take Me There and for the first and second stage development of Second Nature. Miranda WheenMiranda has performed with Shaun Parker and Company’s Happy As Larry, and is also a long standing member of Elizabeth Cameron Dalman’s Mirramu Dance Company having performed with the company since 2003. Her work, How to Understand How Big A Blue Whale Is was awarded Most Outstanding Choreography at Short Sweet and Dance Festival in 2009. Miranda joins the Touring Company for Second Nature. |
