Take Me There

Where can your memories take you? Where can your imagination take you? And where do you belong?

This new work by the Youth Ensemble celebrates the coming of age of Restless, now 20 years old. Inspired by the dancers’ memories and aspirations of both real and imagined places, Take Me There uses startling video technology and a pumping original score to reveal what happens when we can really go to the places we’ve always dreamed about.

This production is part of the Come Out Festival’s school and family program.

Workshop with Dan Daw

Candoco Dance Company performer

Youth Ensemble graduate, Dan Daw returns to Restless after spending the previous year working with London-based integrated dance company, Candoco.

Whilst in Adelaide for a dance film project directed by Kat Worth, Dan will lead a workshop for the youth ensemble dancers and guests introducing them to the current repertoire from Candoco’s RENDITIONS season. In particular participants will gain knowledge of Emanual Gat’s creative practice and process used to develop IN TRANSLATION for the company’s current season of works.

Some dance experience is beneficial but not essential as individual needs will be taken into account.

In rehearsal…

Take Me There, the Youth Ensemble’s new production for the 2011 Come Out Festival is currently in development with Melbourne-based director, Daniel Koerner.

Daniel trained at the Flinders University before moving to Melbourne to further his studies at the Victorian College of the Arts. Working in the film industry and producing several music videos and as a theatre director, Dan has a strong sense of digital media technology in his work.

Take Me There is about places and uses video technology and an original sound score by Ian Moorhead to transport the performer and the audience to a place you’ve often dreamt about. Its poignant, hilarious and engaging and will transport you to a different world wherever you want, whenever you want.

Take Me There premieres on the 25th March 2011 in the Banquet Room at the Adelaide Festival Centre.
