from the artistic director
Welcome Everyone!

We are always delighted when we see some of our fabulous Restless dancers spreading their wings and appearing on TV or in other productions.

Two of the Restless dancers are featured in the brilliant ABC Series “You Can’t Ask That” which goes to air on Wednesday 12th April at 9pm (Tomorrow!).

Josh Campton and Rachel High are featured together on this thought provoking and sometimes challenging series. We salute their courage in tackling these difficult questions. Don’t miss it!

Chris Dyke has just completed his third residency at DanceNorth in Townsville continuing his close working relationship with Artistic Director Kyle Page. In this residency Chris created Lionheart, an original dance which he will be presenting as part of ADT’s Rough Draft on Wednesday 26th April. 7pm at the ADT Studios.

And can I take this opportunity to wish all our readers a very happy Easter.

You Can’t Ask That

You Can’t Ask That asks people with Down syndrome the awkward, inappropriate or uncomfortable questions you’ve always wanted to know the answers to, but never had the guts to ask.

You Can’t Ask That is an ABC original series released first on ABC iview on 3 August 2016.  Each episode asks controversial questions sourced from the public to a minority Australian population including people of short stature, Muslims, sex workers, transgender people and now people with Down syndrome. The show aims to offer insight into the lives of marginalised communities and break down stereotypes while answering the questions people are afraid to ask.

Josh and Rachel appear together and answer some of those difficult questions. Their episode is broadcast tomorrow (Wednesday 12th April) on ABC 1 at 9pm.

If you miss it you can catch it on iView

Zizanie 2nd Creative Development

New Meryl Tankard Work

Meryl Tankard has been back at Restless during this week before Easter working with the cast of Zizanie, her new work for the company.

Meryl is exploring the mischievous creativity of the Restless dancers. She says: “There is a beautiful rawness to the performers responses due to their lack of filter.” Zizanie will articulate the distinctive expressiveness for which both Meryl and the dancers are known. Meryl is investigating: “What is normal? What is acceptable? If someone is slightly different they are frowned upon…We are afraid of people who are not like us.”
