Intimate Space at Festival 2018 | Intimate Space at APAM | James & Diana Ramsay | Rest with Restless

from the artistic director
Intimate Space is going to the Gold Coast and Brisbane!
We are delighted to be remounting our hugely successful production of Intimate Space on the Gold Coast in April as part of Festival 2018, the Commonwealth Games arts and culture program and the Bleach* Festival.
And, we are presenting an excerpt of Intimate Space at the Australian Performing Arts Market (APAM) next week.
I am excited Restless is touring Intimate Space twice to Queensland. It is an honour the production was chosen for Festival 2018, Bleach* Festival and APAM where national and international audiences will be flocking. As a born and bred Queenslander, who is now happy to call Adelaide home, I believe the tours are fantastic opportunities to share our work and showcase our amazing, engaging and professional artists. Restless is a unique company in the Australian arts industry and we want as many people as possible to know who we are, what we do and to celebrate diversity on stage.

Thank you so much.
Michelle Ryan Artistic Director

Australian Performing Arts Market

The Company will also perform a section of Intimate Space at the Australian Performing Arts Market (APAM) in Brisbane next week, February 20th and 21st.

APAM is Australia’s leading, internationally focused industry event for contemporary performing arts. Presenters, promoters and agents from all over the world come to APAM to view the best work that Australia has to offer.

The Showcase of Intimate Space will be performed in the Sofitel Hotel in Brisbane which is where many of the international delegates will be staying. This is a fantastic opportunity for Restless to show the work to national and international festival and venue programmers.

As with the performance of the full work for the Commonwealth Games, Restless will take some dancers from Adelaide and has recruited some local dancers from Brisbane’s IndelABILITY ARTS and seven performers from Gold Coast Recreation and Sport Inc.

Michelle and Roz Hervey have been visiting Brisbane and the Gold Coast to meet with and rehearse the local cast members and to work out how to adapt the work to the local hotels. We are referring to this as the “Collaborative Model” of remounting the work. We also have available the “Residency Model” where Michelle and a small team remount the work with entirely local performers.

James and Diana Ramsay Foundation

Special Assistance
The James and Diana Ramsay Foundation have made a special grant to Restless to help meet some shortfalls in the costs of taking Intimate Space to Queensland. We are extremely grateful for this generous and timely assistance.

Capacity Building & Other Grants

Carclew, Sidney Myer Fund and James and Diana Ramsay Foundation
Carclew has awarded Restless a Capacity Uplift Grant for 2018. And the James and Diana Ramsay Foundation in partnership with the Sidney Myer Fund have granted assistance for Capacity Building over the 17/18 and 18/19 financial years. We will be using a portion of both of these grants to fund our presence at APAM.
Additional Funding from Arts South Australia
Arts South Australia has also provided additional funding for both the Showcase at APAM and for the Commonwealth Games season of Intimate Space.
We would not be able to present our work at these forums without this generous assistance.
