Volunteer for Restless Dance Theatre Public Classes

At Restless, Volunteer Tutors are a valued part of our creative community. This role supports our inclusive dance programs by helping to create dynamic, engaging, and accessible studio experiences for participants of all abilities. We are looking for passionate volunteers to support our dancers and help foster an engaging, accessible, and fun learning environment.

At Restless, we offer two volunteer streams tailored to suit different needs, goals, and levels of experience. Volunteers are usually placed in one of our Public Classes based on their availability and the number of volunteers already assigned to that class.

Volunteer: Tutor Support Program

Working alongside our Lead and Senior Tutors, you will support participants in learning movement material and actively engaging in class activities. You’ll help create a safe and welcoming environment where participants feel confident and supported throughout their experience. You’ll also take part in warm-ups, creative tasks, and group work led by the teaching team, while contributing to a positive and inclusive atmosphere that celebrates each person’s individuality and self-expression. We kindly ask volunteers to commit to a full term whenever possible, as this consistency is vital in building trust and providing the best support for our participants.

This opportunity is ideal for individuals who are passionate about inclusive arts and community connection, eager to learn from experienced teaching artists, and committed to being reliable, open-minded, and supportive. It’s perfect for those looking to gain valuable experience in inclusive dance and creative facilitation.

Volunteer: Tutor Mentorship Program

This is a tailored approach to learning the skills of teaching the Restless way. It is designed to empower you on your journey to gaining Lead Tutor experience and responsibilities within Restless Dance Theatre’s inclusive community. Over a 10-week term, you will collaboratively build a personalised learning plan aligned with your goals and our values, while receiving hands-on guidance in managing group dynamics, inclusive communication, and delivering accessible movement experiences.

You will be allocated a dedicated Tutor who will act as your mentor, providing ongoing support, constructive feedback, and supervision throughout the program. You’ll observe and assist experienced facilitators, gradually taking on more leadership responsibilities within the class. By the end of the 10-week term, you’ll be confident and prepared to independently lead the class session, with supervision and support from your Tutor, in a way that reflects our community-based approach.

This program is ideal for volunteers passionate about inclusive arts and community connection. It’s suited to emerging facilitators, students, or anyone looking to develop leadership and teaching skills while supporting accessible and creative movement for diverse groups.
