Exposed

Exposed explores the intimacies that constitute our lives, our actions, our thoughts, our traumas, our desires, our failures. The work explores vulnerability, uncertainty and risk. In Exposed, the breath is a metaphor for feeling threatened or safe, agitated or calm. The sonic possibilities of breath will be explored as part of the audio and soundscape. "It is only when we let ourselves be vulnerable - exposed - that people can see who we really are. When we share our full humanity - flaws, beauty, strengths, and weaknesses - we allow people to love us and accept us for who we truly are." - ...

Guttered

The glory of risk, the thrill of the game. When did you last go bowling? Are you a little rusty? Perhaps a beginner? How would you feel if gutter guards and ramps were installed in advance to prevent any possibility of your failing to hit the pins? Well intentioned “help” that smothers potential growth is something people with disability encounter all too often. Denial of the dignity of risk is one of many themes playfully explored in this witty and intelligent new work. You enter, take in the unmistakable vibe, grab your shoes, maybe some chips then go and find your team. Sitting right ...

Rewards for the Tribe

For millennia, artists have strived to articulate the human experience in divine forms. Images of ‘perfection’ are everywhere. But we live in an imperfect world full of unpredictability and wonky angles. In Rewards for the Tribe, two of Australia’s most influential and innovative dance companies Chunky Move and Restless Dance Theatre, collaborate for the first time. Together they ask, “is there such a thing as utopia by design?” Five dancers, with and without disability, wrestle with the archetypes of divine geometry laid out by the Old Masters. Together they bend, crumple and reor...
