Volunteer for Restless Dance Theatre Public Classes

Restless Dance Theatre is dedicated to creating inclusive and inspiring dance experiences for people of all abilities. Our Public Classes offer a welcoming space for participants to explore movement, creativity, and self-expression. We are looking for passionate volunteers to support our dancers and help foster an engaging, accessible, and fun learning environment.

Volunteer Mentorship Program

Our Volunteer Mentorship Program is designed for dancers, creatives, and those passionate about teaching in the disability sector. This program provides hands-on experience in inclusive dance and the opportunity to learn from our experienced Restless tutors.

Volunteers commit to at least one term, working closely with tutors to plan and adapt classes for diverse participants. Through guided mentorship, they gradually take on responsibilities, including leading sections of classes. This experience builds confidence and equips volunteers with essential teaching skills for the disability arts sector.

Collaboration is key—volunteers learn how to share responsibilities, support fellow tutors, and adapt strategies in real time. These skills create a more inclusive and engaging space for all participants.

Over six months to a year, volunteers gain comprehensive experience that may lead to future employment opportunities. Graduates of the program may join our Public Class Program as tutors or facilitate in our Schools Program, delivering the Restless approach to inclusive dance education.

Who Can Volunteer? We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds who are:

• Enthusiastic about dance and the arts.
• Passionate about inclusion and accessibility.
• Friendly, patient, and supportive.
• Available to commit to a class schedule (weekly or as needed).
• 18 years or older and willing to complete a Working with Children Check and National Police Check.

What You’ll Do As a volunteer, you may assist with:

• Providing general support to participants during class activities.
• Helping with set-up and pack-down of the space.
• Encouraging and engaging with dancers in a positive and respectful way.
• Supporting the facilitation of a safe and inclusive environment.
