As part of the program, students pre-watch Michelle’s Story, a documentary exploring the life and career of Restless Artistic Director Michelle Ryan — from her experiences as a professional dancer to living with an acquired disability. Michelle then leads a Masterclass with a Q&A, sharing her personal journey and artistic practice before facilitating a series of fortnightly workshops alongside Restless Tutors.
St Ignatius College has continued to partner with Restless because of the strong alignment between the workshops and the school’s values and curriculum objectives around human dignity, inclusion, personal growth and the importance of movement and sport in building community.
Over the past decade, Restless has worked with more than 500 St Ignatius students through this partnership. The impact of the workshops continues to resonate, with students reflecting on the confidence, connection and understanding they gained.
“The teachers were extremely passionate and knowledgeable dancers, who made all of us students feel comfortable instantly despite our range of dancing abilities.” – St Ignatius student
