Restless Dance Theatre Receives First-Ever Green Room Awards Nomination
We’re thrilled — and honestly a little emotional — to share that Restless Dance Theatre has received its first-ever Green Room Awards nomination.
Restless has been nominated for Outstanding Ensemble for our performance of Seeing Through Darkness, presented as part of The Australian Ballet’s DanceX season 2025.
To be recognised by the Green Room Awards — Melbourne’s premier peer-presented performing arts awards — is an extraordinary milestone for our company. As artists committed to creating bold, disability-led contemporary dance theatre, this nomination represents all the hard work our dancers put in every day.
Seeing Through Darkness is a powerful and intimate work, brought to life by an exceptional ensemble whose connection, trust and fearless storytelling resonated deeply with audiences. Being part of DanceX alongside The Australian Ballet was an honour in itself — and this recognition makes the experience even more meaningful.
We are also incredibly proud to celebrate our long-time collaborator Geoff Cobham, who has been nominated for Outstanding Visual Design (Lighting) for Seeing Through Darkness. Geoff’s lighting design sculpted the emotional landscape of the work, illuminating both its tenderness and intensity with breathtaking precision.
To be acknowledged alongside such inspiring artists and companies across the performing arts industry is something we don’t take lightly. This nomination belongs to our dancers, creatives, collaborators, partners and the audiences who continue to believe in and champion our work.
Moments like this remind us why we do what we do.
We look forward to celebrating with the wider performing arts community at the Green Room Awards in March!
