Fern Mines

Fern used the Restless studio space in May 2025 to develop her third development climate change education children’s performance called Peach Season.

The performance component of the Peach Season project is a whimsical dance theatre work centring a young girl Lily and her peach tree, aimed at 6-10year old audiences and their families. When the peach tree begins to decline amidst the impacts of climate change Lily is determined to find a cure and sets out on a magical adventure. Lily learns many valuable lessons along the way and ultimately reconnects with nature and saves her beloved tree. Blending fantasy and environmental activism, the work unfolds as a heartfelt story of hope, courage, and resilience of the human spirit in the face of a changing world. Just like in Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach the characters in our story will learn that it is through friendship and working together that we can overcome challenges. The story is told through innovative and highly skilled dance theatre and performed by a cast of South Australian artists.
