We’re thrilled to share that Counterpoise will be screened at Dance Digital, the inaugural dance film festival presented by Sadler’s Wells Digital Stage.
Taking place from 5–7 June 2026 in London, Dance Digital brings together artists and audiences from across the globe for a weekend dedicated entirely to dance on screen. The new dance film festival celebrates dance on screen and dance filmmaking talents from around the world. The festival will feature curated film programs, artist Q&As, immersive installations, and opportunities for connection between filmmakers and choreographers.
As part of the “Stories in Black and White” program, Counterpoise will sit alongside a diverse international lineup of works exploring movement, identity, and the human experience through film.
Created by Restless Dance Theatre in collaboration with 29Dong Dance Theatre, Korean Music Project, and University of South Australia Connect2Abilities, Counterpoise is a powerful reflection on connection in a time of distance. Developed during the COVID-19 pandemic, the film explores the tension between the external noise of the world and the quieter, internal landscapes we carry within us.
Through striking black-and-white visuals and deeply expressive choreography, Counterpoise invites audiences to consider how we find balance—between isolation and togetherness, stillness and urgency, self and society.
This international screening marks another exciting chapter in the film’s journey, following presentations and awards across festivals in Australia and around the world. To be included in the very first edition of Dance Digital is a significant moment—not only for the work, but for the continued recognition of inclusive, collaborative dance on a global stage.
We’re proud to see Counterpoise connecting with new audiences in the UK and contributing to a festival that champions innovation, accessibility, and the future of dance in digital spaces. Our CEO Julie Moralee will be present for a Q&A after screening.
