Michael joined Restless in 2013. He made his professional debut in the film clip for Baby, Are You There? by the triple ARIA Award Winning blue and roots band The Audreys, released in 2014. In 2015, he continued his screen work in To Look Away, a short film by Sophie Hyde in collaboration with Restless Dance Theatre.
Michael has performed in Lorcan Hopper’s Debut 4: The Elements; In the Balance (Adelaide Cabaret Festival); Touched (2015) by Michelle Ryan; and A Mysterious Lake (2016) by Jianna Georgiou for Debut 5: the Dancers Direct.
In 2017, Michael performed in the multi-award winning Intimate Space at the Hilton Adelaide as part of the Adelaide Festival. He toured with Restless in 2018 to perform Intimate Space at the Hilton Surfers Paradisefor Bleach* Festival and in the opening sequence of the Commonwealth Games Closing Ceremony. Later that year, he performed in Creating the Spectacle for the Adelaide Film Festival.
In 2019, Michael performed in Zizanie, directed by acclaimed choreographer Meryl Tankard. He also toured with Restless to perform in Intimate Space for the 2019 Seoul Street Arts Festival, and performed his solo Ricky & Me (directed by Michelle Ryan) for ADT’s The World’s Smallest Stage, which was dubbed as the highlight of all the performances by Dance Australia.
In 2020, Michael performed in Seeing Through Darkness at the Art Gallery of South Australia. This performance was filmed, and in 2021, was presented as part of the International Hong Kong Arts Festival: No Limits and the Belfast Children’s Festival in Ireland. That same year, Michael was also a key performer in the Adelaide Festival world premiere season of Guttered by Michelle Ryan.
In 2022, Michael performed Ecoute Pour Voir | Listen to See at WOMADelaide festival, the premiere performance of Exposed (Space Theatre), A Date with Restless regional South Australian tour collaboration with Country Arts SA and the premiere of Rewards For The Tribe, a collaboration with Chunky Move. Michael was also featured ABC’s Art Week: Art is Everywhere and was part of Human Services South Australia See Me for Me campaign.
In 2023, Michael performed in the premiere season of Shifting Perspectives for Illuminate Festival Adelaide and in Counterpoise as part of Seoul Street Arts Festival in South Korea. He performed Exposed in FRAME: A Biennial of Dance in Melbourne, toured regionally with Country Arts SA to Sir Robert Helpmann Theatre (Mt Gambier) and Chaffey Theatre (Renmark) and continued to Theatre Royal Hobart, before taking the stage at the Sydney Opera House as part of the 50th birthday celebrations and lastly performed as part of SIDance Festival in Seoul South Korea. The same year the Rewards for the Tribe documentary premiered in the Adelaide Film Festival and later at the Sydney Film Festival, Melbourne International Film Festival and The Other Film Festival.
In 2024, Michael performed in the premiere of Private View (Adelaide Festival) and travelled to Singapore and performed Ecoute Pour Voir | Listen to See in the Esplanade Festival, the to Sydney performing Shifting Perspectives as part of VIVID Sydney. The Dance Film Counterpoise and behind-the-scenes documentary Dancing Against the Odds premiered as a double bill at the Adelaide Film Festival, in collaboration with OzAsia Festival.
