AND we have added a special twist to the donations drive which will see your donation matched twice over so that every dollar you donate turns into four dollars for Restless! More details about this double decker Magic Pudding shortly…
Meryl Tankard and Regis Lansac have returned to Restless during October for a further 2 week development of Zizanie – new touring work. Zizanie is a French word that means mischief or chaos. Stirring up trouble. Mess around, mess about. It also means “weed”. But weeds are just flowers in the wrong garden.
Intimate Space is the Restless show in the Adelaide Festival in March 2017.
We are delighted to be included in the festival and will be presenting a promenade performance in and throughout many of the spaces found within the Hilton Adelaide hotel in Victoria Square in the heart of the city. You will be able to check in with your fellow guests and be immersed into a poignant and at times hilarious imaginative environment.
Restless Dance Theatre presents debut 5 : the dancers direct, a season of five stunning and diverse short works of dance theatre directed by dancers from the Restless Youth and Senior Ensembles.
Integrating dancers with and without disability, debut 5 : the dancers direct showcases the new wave of “makers” within the current Youth and Senior Ensembles. Working under the guidance of professional mentors, the emerging directors unleash their individual choreographic voices.
We have recently had some great outcomes with our funding. The Australia Council has recently announced the Four Year funding results. Our thoughts are with all our colleagues and their brilliant companies who have been denied support despite the excellent standard of their work.
Restless was fortunately, one of the successful companies and we will receive $300,000 per year for 2017 – 2020. This is a great result for the company in a very competitive environment. However, our delight is tempered by the terrible outcomes for so many other companies. These are dark times indeed for the arts in Australia.
We have also had two other recent successes:
The workshops involve creating movement in a safe and fun environment where the participants’ ideas become dance.
